There’s a pair of bags in split calfskin with cute pockets and daintily silk-screened and embroidered messages like “L’amour Toujours” or “Kiss”. A leather bracelet is dressed up in chevron embroidery and a heart-shaped charm and key ring are studded with red sequins.
Japanese flourishes
Pleats Please Issey Miyake’s second collaboration with Japanese graphic designer Ikko Tanaka takes the form of two series. The Face utilises simple blocks of colour and subtle curves added to straight lines, while Bokugi references traditional brush |calligraphy and ink paintings.
Coming from Uniqlo
British fashion designer Hana Tajima has given Japanese apparel brand Uniqlo a spring-summer collection of 30 items in 81 colours and patterns. Due in stores on March 10 and with designs that explore the relationship between movement and form, there are versatile wrap tunics, flared long dresses and tapered ankle pants. Checked out the three-dimensional forms and new materials, such as sheer textured |fabrics that are both lightweight and soft.
These birds fly
Adidas Originals’ Year of the Rooster footwear bears the animals of the Chinese zodiac. Superstar 80s, Stan Smith, Superstar Slip-on, Tubular Radial and EQT Support Ultra Boost also borrow from the board game mah-jong, so you have shoes adorned with an embroidered rooster and a mah-jong tile, plus a printed inner sock liner.
