YOUNG DESIGNERS Setthinat Chantrarattanasakul, 26, and Teerapon Ketkakomon, 29, enjoy picking up on Mother Nature’s imperfections for their range of fun costume jewellery that looks as great with formal office attire wear as it does with more casual wear.
The pair, who studied jewellery design at Silpakorn University and spent several years working with jewellery manufacturers, entered Bangkok’s online retail market in 2014 by setting up their brand Bnatuaral on Instagram.
Blood-type rings
Their first collection of rings fashioned from brass and adorned with onyx and cubic zirconia imitated misshapen bark and branches and were quickly snapped up by shoppers at Central World’s Rainbow Market, Siam Paragon’s Zaap and Bangkok International Fashion and Leather Fairs.
Now the brand has more than 25,000 followers and also offers earrings and bracelets as well as a silver jewellery collection for which customised orders are accepted.

“The weird spelling of our name hints at our design inspiration. Nature isn’t perfect and we can change its blemishes into a beautiful design. Our jewellery has a slightly masculine feeling and is ideal for the smart woman around town,” Setthinat says.
The brass jewellery is in free size and can easily be adapted to fit fingers and wrists, while the silver series has fixed sizes. The pieces are coated in gold, silver and black.
The latest collection, “Sphere”, draws on the mysterious beauty of outer space. Quasar earrings are shaped to resemble a black hole while the Meteroid rings reflect a line of shooting stars.

The “Your Blood” series mimics blood cells as seen through a microscope. The O-type ring is simple and round, the B-type ring is embraced by round cells, the A-type ring is full of facets and the AB-type ring is a combination of circles and angles.
The “Hide & Conceal” collection reflects the uniqueness of personalities. For example, the Mrs Fuddy-Daddy ring comes with a gem setting to add a vintage mood and the Mr B-blind ring has raised dots adapted from Braille.
To mark 100 days since the passing of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the brand has launched an edition of 9.1 and 9.2 rings, crafted to resemble the Thai number nine.

“We don’t want to take advantage of our country’s loss. We just want to keep our beloved king in memories forever. We saw plenty of t-shirts were screened with number nine. So we enhanced the design and are sharing it with like-minded people,” Setthinat says.
“We’re launching a new collection inspired by vines and with a refined embedding technique next month.”
Bnatuaral’s products are available at FabLab boutiques in Siam Center and Central East Ville and from the Bnatuaral page on Instagram and Facebook.
