Billed as the thinnest convertible-hybrid laptop on the market, the Acer Spin 7 is a pleasure to tote around

A NEW flagship notebook computer from the Taiwanese IT manufacturer, Acer Spin 7 boasts a sleek, slim and multi-functional body.
Attractively presented in a sleek black aluminium casing that’s just 10.97mm thin and weighs a mere 1.171 kg, the Spin 7 is powered by an Intel Core i-7 processor that ensures great performance.
I tested the SP714-51-M8SQ model, which is powered by Intel Core i7-7Y75 dual-core processor running at 1.3 Ghz. It comes with 8 gigabytes of DDR3 working memory or RAM and 256 GB of fast SSD (solid state drive) storage. For graphics, it uses built-in Intel HD Graphics 615.
The fast Core i-7 processor allowed the Spin 7 to run business applications fast. Video clips and music files played smoothly tool. The notebook runs on the Windows 10 64-bit operating system and the trial Office 365 application suite ran smoothly during the test. It started up and shut down very fast.
The Spin 7 uses 360-degree convertible hinges that allow the notebook to be used in four modes: as a notebook, a tablet, a display with the keyboard facing down and the screen pointing out and in tent mode.
Spin 7 comes with 14-inch Full HD IPS touch screen, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The screen is bright and great for watching photos and video clips. The touch screen is very responsive and the computer works fine as a tablet.
The new notebook uses Dolby Audio Premium twinned with the Acer TrueHarmony audio system to enhance both listening to music and watching movies. It also provides a 3.5mm stereo jack.
The notebook has two USB 3.1 Type-C ports. One port is for recharging its battery and the package provides a USB Type-C to full-size USB port so that you can continue to use your USB 2.0 devices, such as a mouse or portable hard drive.
Spin 7 also has fast Internet connection, using 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac technology. I tried it with my Linksys EA8500 router and found it could share files with my other computers and devices very fast as well as surf the web and download files fast and efficiently. Apart from the fast Wi-Fi connection, Spin 7 also comes with Bluetooth to link to various devices.
Spin 7 uses power from 4-cell 2,770 mAh Lithium-Polymer batter that can last for about eight hours.
Acer Spin 7 (SP714-51-M8SQ) has a suggested retail price of Bt49,990.
