Vengeance on their minds

One of the best TV dramas ever to appear on the small screen,  “Laa” (“Hunt”) has once again been made and this time veteran actress Lalita Panyopas is playing the mother who takes revenge on a group of men who raped her and her teenage daughter one by one.
    It’s a comeback project for the actress who recently went through a divorce.
    The drama is based on the novel written by Tamayati and was first made as a movie in 1977 before becoming a successful TV drama in 1994. At that time, Sinjai Plengpanich portrayed the mother Mathusorn while Sai Charoenpura starred as her daughter Phueng. The role marked the start of Sia’s acting career – she was just 13 years old at that time. The drama was hailed as a breakthrough action thriller and a step above the usual TV soaps.
    Directed by Supol Wichienchai, the series showed Sinjai planning, disguising herself and getting revenge on the bad guys one by one.
This time the 15-year-old actress Pornsroung “Xiang Xiang” Rouyruen has been cast in  the daughter role. Young actress Ploychompoo Jannine Weigel, who appeared in “Runpee”, was the original choice but was forced to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.
Despite her young age, Xiang Xiang has plenty of experience both on stage and on TV, having appeared in the Korean drama remake “Autumn In My Heart”.
