The key to children’s brain development

The NationMead Johnson Nutrition (Thailand) recently offered parents a better way to guide their children’s development in terms of thought processes, intellect and emotion, right from birth, to help ensure their future success and happiness in a rapidly changing world.

The Enfa A+ Future Brain Expo hosted by the firm included a 360-degree virtual-reality representation of the human brain, seen for the first time in Thailand, by way of introducing the new Enfagrow A+ formula.
Actor JetsadapornPholdee and his wife Sitamon were there with their son Jatebodin to share their experiences in parenting and offer some nutritional tips, as was actress PornchitaHiranyatithi and her husband Boromwuti, the parents of little Ratnaree.
Enfa A+, which specialises in child nutrition and brain development, continues to upgrade its formula. Its latest discovery is MFGM (Milk Fat Globule Membrane), the brain nutrient found in breast milk. Research shows that MFGM promotes brain-function potential in children, enhancing their ability.
Sitamon pointed out that most parents worry about their children’s future.
“When they grow up, how are they going to lead their lives? Will they be successful? Will they be happy? Our role as parents is to prepare them for the outside world, enabling them to lead their lives the way they choose and to take care of themselves and their family.”
Sitamon said she and Jetsadorn take a holistic approach to caring for Jatebodin – known as Tent. “We consider everything from nutrition to skill development, including analytical skills, creativity and being part of a team. We let Tent explore, because the world is one large classroom. At the same time, we also emphasise interpersonal skills so he won’t have any social fears and be a happy kid.”
Pornchita said she felt lucky being able to fully manage her daughter Ratnaree’s (Prim’s) nutrition right from the time she was pregnant.
“I believe good nutrition is essential for children’s brain development from pregnancy to three years old,” she said. “Nutrition includes the brain nutrients found in breast milk, which provide a crucial foundation for her learning and development.
“In preparing my child for the future, I believe intellect and emotion are equally important. When possible I stop her from watching television or playing with the iPad because it shortens her attention span and halts the development of analytical skills, communication and teamwork. I encourage her to think, make decisions and solve problems with playtime activities, such as making blanket tunnels. That helps build analytical skills for when she faces real problems – she’ll be able to figure it out herself, and her ideas and action needn’t copy others.
“Most importantly, we’ve taught her to share. My girl must be smart and kind in the future to be successful and to step much further than others do.”
