No idea what to pack for the long summer holiday? Then let Central Department Store’s Personal Shoppers give you a hand in mixing and matching trendy items by various brands. The new “Central Luxe Galerie: A World of Timeless Glamour on Board” campaign offers discounts of up to 20-per-cent discount in Luxe Galerie, Luxe Men and Luxe Kids departments from now until this April 18.
Kara Polasit, a personal shopper who has been in the fashion and entertainment industry for 20 years, and now works as a personality groomer for leading organisations, says: “The most important thing to consider when dressing up is your lifestyle. Think about the occasion and keep in mind your body shape. For example, if you have wide hips, wearing light-coloured bottoms may make them appear even wider. If you do not have curves, find something that adds a waist to your body. Also think about your skin tone – wearing the right colour can make you appear more radiant.”
For this summer, Kara recommends three casual looks for a beach holiday. “The first look is a white, flowing dress, worn with shorts, a wide-rim hat, sunglasses, and strappy sandals. This look is cute and comfortable, great for a walk on the beach. The second look is matching a sleeveless lace top with a long skirt with a side slit, or a wrap skirt. Style it up with strappy sandals and a long necklace. This look is feminine and sexy at the same time. The last look is matching bright shorts with a bold hat and bag. It’s a look that reflects a fun summer vibe.”
Narwondtha Zaharustapon, former personality coach from John Robert Powers adds: The most versatile piece in the spring-summer 2017 collections is the V-neck top paired with a white skirt, flare pants, capris, or shorts. Another look spotted on many runways is a bra top and bodysuit, topped with a jacket and worn with a black skirt. If you want a casual look, try a dress with cut out shoulders, or wear a graphic shirt. Another trend is statement sleeves, which are spotted in many brands. The sleeves are extra long and can be worn for every day matched with skinny or flared trousers, or a denim skirt. For shoes, I wear espadrille wedge shoes or pointy flats, which are both comfy and chic,” she adds.
