Tackle filthy beaches with a tourist tax

I would urge you to take a stand or position regarding the trash and debris on the beaches.

It is a shame that so much trash, bottles and bottle caps is just discarded on Phuket’s beaches without a second thought. I recently went snorkelling off Kata and saw more beer cans than fish!
Why can’t the local authority at least provide trashcans? People would use them. Thailand’s beaches are the main reason tourists come to Thailand, so why not protect that asset? In other tourist destinations, such as Costa Rica and Mexico, there is a departure tax that goes directly to maintaining the roads and beaches. Introducing such a tax here would also provide much-needed jobs and instil pride in the area while protecting its most valuable asset. Just a thought.
