Moisan interprets “essence” as “quintessence” as he attempts to render the pure, raw beauty of nature in 13 still-life forest scenes in Japan.
The large silver prints capture as much the wait, the silence and the peacefulness as the violence of the moment. The deep stillness of these enormous and vertical masses provokes both fear and admiration. Often they awaken our conscience and question us. Beauty is difficult to define, but easy to experience when standing in the heart of nature.
The photos are complemented by the latest creations in wood by P Tendercool (Pieter Compernol and Stephanie Grusenmeyer), making the exhibition both a visual and tactile tribute to Mother Nature.
Moisan chose “Essences” as the show’s title because it resounds with the woodwork reinterpreted by Compernol and Grusenmeyer.
The exhibition continues through June 30. The PT-gallery is at 48-58 Charoenkrung Road Soi 30, right next to the relocated Thailand Culture and Design Centre.
It’s open Monday through Saturday from 9.30 to 6.30.
