Thailand complete whitewash of the Philippines

Thailand underlined their supremacy over the Philippines by winning the meaningless singles rubbers to complete a 5-0 whitewash of their rivals in their Davis Cup Zone Asia/Oceania Qualifying Group II second round tie at the National Tennis Development Centre yesterday.

After taking an unassailable 3-0 lead on Saturday, Thailand got the fourth point through Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul who vanquished Patrick-John Tierro 6-4 6-1.
Then Jirat Navasirisomboon beat Alberto Lim 6-4 6-2 to drive the final nail in the Philippines coffin. Jirat has won all three rubbers since he made his Davis Cup debut in February against Kuwait.
Thailand will play the final in Pakistan in September for promotion to Group I in 2018.
