The luxury ready-to-wear brand offers a range of fashion pieces and accessories that shout out "Made in Italy"

PROENZA SCHOULER injects a new energy into summer with an eye-catching asymmetrical wrap skirt boasting irregular stripes and a roomy Hex Bucket bag that’s ideal for toting to the beach.
The spring and summer 2017 collection of the New York-based designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez is a spontaneous mix of references and ideas that continues to inspire fashion lovers while exploring different parts of the brand’s DNA. The designers say emphasis is placed on continued evolution throughout the design process, approaching fittings without preconceived notions of the final outcome and through improvised, multi-layered styling. Silhouettes allow for movement, with pleats cut on the bias letting garments fall into different shapes.
The collection’s bold, graphic palette marks a return to the use of colour and print. A focus on material contrasts and handcrafted couture techniques, such as woven feathers and micro-cut woven leather with modern digitally printed t-shirts and custom jacquards, evoke the idea of cultural collage and experimentation.
The Cap Sleeve Dress nails the point. A sleeveless printed dress with pleated wrap front detail, it boasts fine polyester yarns woven into lightweight cloque seersucker.
Other runway looks include a long-sleeved lightweight crewneck tissue jersey t-shirt with custom Proenza Schouler printing inherent of the Spring/Summer 2017 collection and a knit pleated skirt for which viscose is blended into a graphic geometric jacquard.
Accessories reinforce the language of the Hava and Hex bag families, which have become the brand’s iconic totes. Fabrications share the same vision as ready-to-wear; with colourful, rich textures in a dynamic mix of materials.
Take, for example, the smooth leather Hex bucket bag with hand-laced whipstitch detail. The body of the bag features a hand-woven flat lacing construction and laces individually bonded with painted edges. The medium size has a custom woven leather and chain shoulder strap.

The new collection also features the PS1+ accessories. Derived from the popular PS1 bag that was launched in 2008, the PS1+ was designed to be functional and utilitarian, and is created using grainy calf leather that is soft yet structured to hold the shape. It has five interior compartments and is lined in a durable cotton canvas. The PS1+ features silver hardware with volume and shine, including an updated clasp with screw details that harks back to the brand’s Hava bag family, and a new enamel logo tag. The new model has an adjustable removable shoulder strap so the bag can be carried as a top handle, worn on the shoulder, or cross body.
The Hava Chain Handbag is a vision in smooth leather with a whipstitch flap front and chain shoulder strap plus one back zip pocket and two internal pouch pockets. The Hava Chain Cross body, meanwhile, features a leather flap with custom chain and leather cross-body strap and the Hava Top Handle comes with painted edging and an adjustable, detachable shoulder strap.
Proenza Schouler offers a new range of clutches this season, among them the Curl Clutch with a leather flap at the front, contrast lining and stitching, painted edges, one interior pouch pocket, and folded gusset construction. The custom closure is created using a modern technique where different composites are mixed together to create a synthetic stone in vibrant colours. The stone is then cut into a custom sculpted shape and set in shiny silver hardware.
Leather platform sandals handcrafted in Italy complete the total look of the Proenza Schouler girl, with contrasting ankle straps and a woven leather heel. Even more casual are the leather sneakers with elastic criss-cross panels, contrast lining and the embossed logo at the back.
