This time around the US launched missiles on the basis of video clips and reports of a gas attack on a rebel-held area. There were no independent reports on how the chemicals were delivered and who was behind the attack. We truly live in a dangerous world if knowledge counts for so little. Educated, cool-headed people around the world are asking for an independent investigation of who was behind last week’s chemical attack.
If Assad has chemical weapons, why attack the airbase where the US claims the chemicals stem from, threatening the people in that area with the same gruesome deaths as witnessed in video clips from Idlib? And worse, might the ban on chemical weapons itself create dangerous unclear situations that lead to war, even misused intentionally to morally justify and “legalise” a desired war?
Don’t forget the “false flag” or phantom attack in the Gulf of Tonkin that drew America into the Vietnam War. Many years later it was confirmed that “high government officials distorted facts and deceived the American public about events that led to full US involvement in the Vietnam War” (usni.org/magazines/navalhistory/2008-02/truth-about-tonkin). History shows the world need cool-headed people who “first think, then begin”, as the German proverb goes. Previous video “evidence” from alleged chemical attacks has been proven fake or staged by independent investigators, among them specialists from the Swedish Doctors for Human Rights organisation. Time to start listening to independent sources who don’t have vested interests.
