Thai Immigration taking realistic view on ISIS suspect

Re: “High alert after report IS suspect fled to Thailand”, The Nation, yesterday.

If he’s caught, the best way to escape is to run-over and kill a policeman and he’ll be allowed to leave peacefully.

Immigration police chief Pol Lt-General Natthorn Phrosunthorn said there was no indication that the ISIS member passed through border control.
Duh! Why would an ISIS member want to go through control? I think the police chief is feeling a little prickly about border control.
The police chief should liaise closely with the Malaysian authorities to apprehend this person ASAP and return him to the custody of the Malaysian police and stop the diversionary talk (all for the happiness of Thai peoples, I guess)!

Denial, Thailand’s best form of security!

I think what the Immigration chief has done is quite sensible, actually. The word is out and the guy’s picture is in the public realm.
And no claims of “we are xx% finished in efforts to find him” or the usual nonsense.
At least the chief actually can admit it is possible to pass borders illegally, instead of just pretending the guy isn’t in Thailand because he hasn’t passed through a border point.
Still, I’m sure the possibility of the bad guy paying his way through must have entered his mind.
