Take the valium, please

Re: "The nightmare of living in a doggist utopia", Have Your Say, June 10.

I see that “Suffered dogs far too long” ignored my advice to take that Valium. His description of his living conditions explain his angst, which I would otherwise judge to be pathological. If he lives in a condo surrounded by yelping dogs all cooped up in small apartments, of course he’s going to be upset. Since the rules prohibit dogs, the logical solution is to bring legal pressure on the management to evict the offending tenants together with their dogs, cruel though that may be.
Suff misreads my own living conditions, which I didn’t detail earlier because I didn’t want to bore readers anymore than I’ve done already.
I live in a gated community of three-storey townhouses. My dog does not run loose. He does his business in the carport. When we walk him, he is always on a leash. Our neighbours do not hate us, and in fact they often stop to pet him when we’re out walking him.
Calling my dog an ugly animal is an insult, as I am sure all readers will agree who saw his photo in your June 9 edition. I can conclude only that Suff is aesthetically challenged – at least, as regards dogs.
This will be my last letter on this issue. I advise Suff to write one last retort if he is so inclined, and make it likewise. We have both made our point. To belabour it would be tedious and redundant. But I hope that by now he’s taken that Valium.
