The Thailand winner will join winners from another 15 countries in participating in Nippon Paint’s accelerated Learning Programme in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Asia Young Designer Award 2017 has as its theme “You for Tomorrow”, which encourages aspiring design students to see the importance of “Future-proof Designs”, or designs specifically created for the future. This aims to widen the vision and build the skill of young designers in our changing society and will also encourage them to create solutions that will be of outstanding use to the community.
“Nippon Paint is continuing to build on its aspirations and highlight the importance and potential of the young generation in the fields of architecture and interior design. Our aim is to build this award into a platform where these students can reveal their unbounded abilities. We believe that the students who join this programme will gain more experience and apply it in their future careers to benefit society and community sustainability,” says Thanyalak Supasoon, assistant general manager, Nippon Paint Decorative Coatings (Thailand).
The competition is divided into two categories. Students in their third year and up are eligible for the architecture design category is eligible. Entrants are invited to share their thoughts on how designs and concepts are crafted for the communities of tomorrow. A wise vision is required, to ensure the needs of people in the future can be met and the benefits arising from the architecture design within the project layout maximum of 40,000 square meters.
In the interior design category, which is open to second-year students, candidates are asked to create the successful pattern of future spaces, whether a workplace, living space or public space. Consideration must be given to the activities that will shape the lifestyle and movements of the citizens of tomorrow, and purposeful spaces crafted that fit the entrant’s vision of what future living is all about within the project layout maximum at 2,800 square meters.
