Thailand’s king and queen of fruit – the savoury durian and the luscious mangosteen – take centre-stage next month with fruit buffets being set up in hotels and department stores for fruit lovers’ endless pleasure.

The Conrad Hotel’s neo classic Chinese restaurant Liu has also created two delightful dishes with these fruits: Wok-seared Rack of Lamb with Mangosteen sauce and Chinese Sweet Crispy Puff Stuffed with Durian, both of them available during July only.
Durian is easily recognisable for its large size and spiky skin. But it is the addictive taste of durian that attracts new devotees every year, who cannot get enough of its creamy and sweet flesh.
Mangosteen may be less visually striking, with small size and deep purple colour, but once the thick skin is opened, one of richest tastes on earth can be discovered in its milky white fruit. Enjoyed with deep affection all over the region, these two fruits are now in season.
Located at the hotel’s third floor, Liu is open for lunch daily from 11.30 to 2.30 and for dinner from 6 to 10.30. Find out more at (02) 690 9999 or visit Facebook.com/conradbangkokhotel
