Locked into the digital lane
Digital products are very much part of our daily life and few would argue that these innovations and technologies have made our lives a lot easier and better all round.
And it’s not just gadgets. Digital locks are also making a splash in Thailand so Veco by Wintech Manufacturing, a leader in automated digital locking systems, recently invited three tech-savvy celebrities to talk about their experience with digital device locks. They were Siriyos Devahastin Na Ayudhya, a socialite who’s always on the go, Narongchai Jirapanichkul, importer of foreign furniture brands who prioritizes design and safety, and actor ML Attadis Diskul.
Siriyos said that digital locks give her more reassurance than traditional locks. “I live in the fast lane and sometimes when I rush out of my house, I leave my keys inside. With digital locks, I don’t have to carry my keys around, so my handbag doesn’t get heavy. I love digital locks because they come with a smart keypad, which allows me to set my own passcode. They also feature a non-peeking function and fingerprint recognition function. You can enter fake passcodes before or after the real one. Additionally, there’s an alarm function that goes off when the locks are being picked. Traditional locks only lock the door, but digital locks ensure safety and really reassure home owners that their homes are protected.”
Narongchai likes the simple design combined with great function. He uses digital locks at his Villa Vinotto showhouse. For his lifestyle, design is everything, so when choosing the right locks for his showhouse, the design has to be simple and beautiful, but the functionality must also be top-notch. More importantly, they must be easy to use and user-friendly. After sales service is also very important.
“Every day, many people visit our showhouse – our staff, our employees, and our business partners. Sometimes when our employees walk in and out, they forget to lock the doors. Digital locks automatically lock the doors when they are shut. If the locks are picked or if there’s a fire, the alarm goes off immediately, so this system really works for our showhouse. Veco digital lock’s key card also comes with RFID (RadioFrequency Identification), which is more durable that magnetic strips. The key card is a no-touch system – it can read the data from afar. When something goes wrong, I can always contact the Call Centre for help.”
ML Attadis Diskul said digital locks suit his lifestyle as it means he doesn’t have to carry keys. He also likes that the key card is small and easy to carry. There’s also no door knob to turn he can unlock the door by using the passcode or the key card.
“Sometimes I leave my house in a hurry and I forget to lock my door, forget my key, or lose my key. With digital locks, those problems don’t exist. I can unlock the door using my passcode, and I don’t have to worry about locking the door because it’s automatic. I use digital lock on my bedroom door because I keep all my valuable items there. At my house, we always have new maids, so with digital locks, I don’t have to worry about strangers going into my bedroom.”
