Last week I saw a video on Facebook about training elephants. It was supposedly filmed in Germany and showed the trainer using hooks to control the elephants. A Thai person forwarded the video with comments about how bad German people are and that they should be pressured to stop this terrible cruelty.
I wrote a comment that Thai people were just as bad, if not worse, and linked to a few videos on YouTube showing baby elephants chained to trees and being beaten with hooks here, too. I was attacked and ridiculed and told that this sort of thing never happens in Thailand.

Elephants kept in poor/unacceptable conditions, so what? We only care about making money.
Thailand wants to be seen as a modern progressive country, but still allows barbaric treatment of elephants. Time for this barbaric treatment to be stopped.

About the only way to fight or stop this is to educate the people that come here, load up in the silver vans of death, drive out to Mae Rim, Mae Taeng, Mae Wong and ride the elephants.
Anyone seriously trying to stop this exploitative moneymaking scheme could just end up committing suicide by hanging.
