First you offer Kim Jong-un a date with Ivanka Trump

Re: “The options to deal with North Korea”, What Others Say, July 31.

In order to bring about a perfect new world order characterised by universal harmony, enduring prosperity and world peace, authorities whose judgement I trust (my British drinking mates on Soi Cowboy) have urged me to share with the world my wisdom on international affairs. While I feel shy about aspiring to the lofty philosophical heights attained by JC Wilcox and Eric Bahrt, I present this initial nugget of wisdom on the North Korean problem. North Korea is easy, folks. It has only one leader. All you have to do is get him in your pocket. That too is easy. All El Trumperino has to do is invite the Short Fat Leader (aka Little Fat Boy) to spend a weekend at Mar-a-Lago. Charm him, spoil him, wine and dine him. Treat him to a side trip to Disney World and offer him (pending the consent of the concerned parties) a shot at Ivanka.
Then let the Great Dealmaker offer him a deal:  Freeze your nuclear programme and we’ll stop the joint military exercises with South Korea. To ensure compliance, set up a UN commission to monitor both sides. To make sure there’s no fooling around, staff it entirely with Germans. To maximise smooth communication and infallible liaison, appoint Dennis Rodman to be permanent roving ambassador to North Korea, with absolute power to make deals. To sweeten the pot, offer the ultimate trade deal: The US will purchase North Korea’s entire annual production of exportable kimchi  in exchange for America’s entire annual production of bullshit. (It will fertilise a lot of rice fields.)
My new company, Beasley Wisdom, Inc, will soon be offering similar solutions to world problems to interested parties at cut-rate prices.
First-world nations and multinational conglomerates preferred, cash payment only, no IOUs.
Fear not, anxious world: Your salvation is at hand. Our motto: Be of good cheer, Horace is here.
