Excuse me for not loving Donald Trump … or fast food

Please allow me to respond to the garbage that Nigel Pike has written about me (Letters, August 4). His claim that I’m a socialist is a blatant lie and a throwback to the McCarthy Era.

He said I don’t tolerate other views, even though I made it clear people have a right to “love Donald Trump”. But I have the same right to believe that no decent human being could feel that way about such a horrible man. It is also hypocritical for Pike to talk about “love” and “tolerance” and then defend a man like Donald Trump who smears everyone who disagrees with him.
Finally I’d like to respond to the biggest lie of them all, which is that I “impose” my eating habits on people. I have just as much right to expose the atrocities that the animal food industries commit against animals, the damage they do to the environment and how they harm human health, as McDonald’s or KFC does to tell us we should eat at their restaurants.
The only ones being imposed upon are the animals in the slaughterhouse.
