Thapptun “Um” Wipawasootcharoen, a 28-year-old architect, who believes in keeping in shape, recently beat three other finalists to be crowned Thailand’s first “Cool Guy” in the “Men’s Fitness Cool Guy Search 2017 by American Eagle Outfitters”, an online reality show sponsored by Men’s Fitness magazine and Pacifica Group.

“Being a cool guy isn’t only about good looks and excellent health, though of course those are important. It’s also about having a good mind and way of thinking,” said Thapptun who works as an architect for Palmer & Turner. “Winning this championship was about being myself and developing further based on the suggestions of the experts and judges.
“Too many people make excuses for not exercising, saying they are too tired after a day at work. It’s all in the mind,” added Thapptun, who sets aside three days to run and another three for weight training. “I love my career as an architect, but feel ready enjoy a new experience in the entertainment circle.”
The young man, who graduated from the Montfort Del Rosario school of Architecture and Design at Assumption University and holds master’s degrees in business and management from Aston University in England, has a fascination for speed and spends his leisure time cycling around the country. As a child, he was a keen drummer and regarded Blink 182’s drummer Travis Barker as his idol.
Thapptun took home Bt100,000 from Men’s Fitness magazine and another Bt50,000 from American Eagle Brand. He also signed a contract with Polyplus Entertainment.
“It is very difficult to select the coolest guy from the four finalists but Thapptun was our choice,” said Louis Scott, editor-in-chief of Men’s Fitness Thailand, a local version of the US high-end health magazine for guys.
Watsawat “Ten” Darajanchanon won the Popular Vote award and The Best Skin by Cle de Peau Beaute prize and took home Bt30,000. Other awards went to Lathakorn Shinwattanawongwan for The Best Jeans Body, and Arpakorn Horsaengchai for the Perfect Body by Narlabs.
