How do you debate with a deaf, dumb and blind man?
Re: “Laughable apology for Trump and his ‘shitholes’ remark”, Have Your Say, yesterday.
Dr Frank insists that JC Wilcox be rebuked by right-minded, decent people for his latest insane letter – “Why Trump’s ‘shitholes’ remark is not racist” (January 17).
My simple response is “NO”.
I have given up on Mr Wilcox’s lunatic defence of the pathological liar in the White House, since whenever this writer is offered evidence of Trump’s egomaniacal policies and opinions, his response is silence. You can’t debate with a person who does not live on the same planet.
There is a Harvard PhD geologist, Kurt Wise, who has said that even if all the evidence in the world pointed to evolution, he would remain a creationist as per the Gospel. Mr Wilcox has the same blindness.
Fortunately, decent, right-minded people don’t need rebukes of letters by Wilcox and his clones to know the truth about the egomaniac-in-chief. Reacting to Wilcox’s letters in this way probably causes him to rejoice in the attention. A far better “rebuke” would be to completely ignore his writings defending Trump.
Somsak Pola offered a witty alternative with his humorous response (“A triumph of persuasive rhetoric over the truth”).
That said, the publication of these delusional letters is a price I willingly pay for the editor’s policy of impartiality.
