Trump’s rich backers could pull the plug any time

If Trump did not exist, it would be necessary for the richest one per cent in America to invent him. 
The president’s buffoonery, racism and total ignorance of world affairs means nothing to the billionaires who stand to gain the most from the recent taxation overhaul.  Trump will survive only so long as his backers believe he can serve their personal interests. 
The president’s State of the Union address simply demonstrates that he is as good a liar reading from a teleprompter as he is while compiling tweets.
