In Thomas Cup, Thailand were put in the same group with Indonesia, South Korea and Canada. For Uber Cup, Thailand were placed alongside Taiwan, Germany and Hong Kong. The world’s team tournament is due at the Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani between May 20-27.
“In the Asian Championship in Malaysia last month we almost beat Korea. We should at least take the second place in the group. But we are confident that we can take the top spot of the group,” said national coach Rexy Mainaky.
Former world No 1 mixed doubles Saralee Thoungthongkam, now a coach, also expected the women’s team to dominate the group.
“We expect to finish first in the group. Japan and China should finish first in their groups as well,” said Saralee, member of the Thai Uber Cup team that took the bronze medal in 2012.
