Re:  “The Donald gets things done – with devastating effect”, Have Your Say, May 3.

Egon misinterprets my letter of May 1 (“Is this man a good role model for your child?”). He says I have “the facts disturbingly wrong in giving Trump an ‘A’ grade for his policies”. I never gave Trump an A for anything.  I wrote: “Trump MAY EVENTUALLY QUALIFY for an A” in getting things done. That’s speculating on a future possibility, not stating an accomplished fact. And indeed, he may eventually qualify for an A, although I wouldn’t bet Mar-a-Lago on it.
Similarly, when my hypothetical reader mentioned establishing peace in Korea, uplifting the US economy, coming down hard on crime and drug use, and stopping illegal immigration, he was speculating on things Trump MIGHT get done. Nowhere did I write that “Trump established peace on the Korean peninsula”, nor that he has already accomplished the three remaining feats.
It should be transparently obvious even to a blind man that peace in Korea is still in the talking stage, as I suggested in my letter of yesterday (“Hold that Nobel Prize”). We have a long way to go, and many obstacles to overcome, before that elusive dream becomes a reality.
In the future, I suggest that Egon read letters published in this column more carefully before tearing off on a rant. I find his criticism especially galling because evidently he and I are both on the same (anti-Trumpian) side.
