There’s nothing we can learn from Trump
Re: “Certain people can learn a thing or two from Trump”, Have Your Say, November 17.
In answer to Somsak Pola’s letter:
First, the US is a full-fledged democracy in which it is said that every man is created equal, and freedom of expression is guaranteed.
Hence, why can’t I raise relevant questions concerning that country?
Second, to call for the use of B52 bombers in this era to counterbalance China is absurd. The last time these bombers were in use was during the Vietnam War more than 40 years ago. The plane has never been heard of again.
Third, to call for the US to counterbalance China’s power in this region is a good thing. However, countries in this region must take care of themselves at this time because the US government is too lackadaisical to be of any help.
Lastly, I share Somsak’s opinion that the Thai government should play its cards wisely vis-à-vis China. Let’s hope our future leaders are up to the job.
