History unrepeated

Re: "Historical parallels are unfair", Letters, September 5.

After his criticism of William Reynolds for exaggerating, Somsak Pola compares the red-shirt deaths to the Holocaust. I am sure that will have amused the Jewish community. However, to carry on the analogy he brings in the Crystal Night. By doing this he is suggesting that it was in fact the Jews who were responsible for all of the destruction from which the night gets its name.

Somsak Pola fails to give us any amusing analogy for the Black Shirts or for the red-shirt leaders without whose stupidity or malicious intent the red-shirt deaths would not have come about. He also failed to mention the chief rabbi's involvement in the event.
