Inspired by Thai traditional designs, Anan's muse for this collection is the Songkran goddess Kimitha, who rides a buffalo, wears a lotus in her hair and topaz jewellery, and bears a sword in her right hand and a harp in the left.
The collection is aimed at active women and men from 25 to 50. Positioned between ready-to-wear and high couture, the style aims to be original but accessible. Find out more at www.MoiAnan.com.
Reincarnating art
Krit Ngamsom re-contextualises significant creations in 20th century art in his new solo show "Already Mades" at the Number 1 Gallery until October 29.
On display are mixed-media sculptures that take their cues from iconic masterpieces like Duchamp's "Dada Fountain", Dali's surrealist "Lobster Telephone" and Jeff Koon's "Balloon Dogs". Krit incorporates stools, plastic wheels and plaster fountains into the works.
The gallery is in the Silom Galleria on Silom Road. Call (083) 445 8333 or visit www.Number1Gallery.com.
Tate dips into the oil
The Tate Modern is to open the first phase of its new wing next year in time for the Cultural Olympiad celebrating the 2012 Olympic Games.
The Tate Modern will open the former power station's oil tanks, two giant circular spaces that were hitherto left derelict. They will become the lower levels of an 11-storey building on the gallery's southwest corner, to be completed in 2016.
The Oil Tanks, measuring 30 metres in diameter and seven metres high, will be "some of the most exciting spaces for new art in the world", according to the Tate.
"We always knew that we were going to extend Tate Modern," says Tate director Nicholas Serota. "Art has changed, the way which public expects to relate to that art is definitely changing. The extension reflects all this."
