Thailand to play Lanka
Thailand will start their Davis Cup Zone Asia/Oceania Qualifying Group II campaign against Sri Lanka after the draw at the Four Seasons Hotel yesterday.
The second-seeded Thailand, who lost to South Korea 0-3 last weekend in the battle for a ticket to 2011 Group I, will play the away tie against Sri Lanka between February 1012 with grass the likely choice of the hosts.
Meanwhile, 2009 champion Gilles Simon of France is due in Bangkok tomorrow to regain his title in the PTT Thailand Open scheduled next week.
The world No 11, who preferred not to defend his title last year, is coming to play in the Thailand Open after representing his country in the Davis Cup tie against Spain last week.
"I did not play the tournament in Metz [France this week] because I intend to compete in the Thailand Open. I had a good impression the last time I was here," said Simon.
World No 4 and top seed Andy Murray is due to arrive in Thailand on Monday while the opening ceremony is set at 7pm on Thursday 29.
