Ye gods Meechai, I don’t know what you are smoking now, but you are on your own planet, it seems, when it comes to Thaksin. You are wrong on so many levels and, I say, misogynistic to compare rape with politics.
I am flabbergasted to see you write that Thaksin was a lady gang-raped after rising, you admit, via corruption. How can you describe the harlot of Thailand as a virtuous woman defiled by a bevy of lords? I would bring it down several levels. He bedded who he needed to in order to get to the top, for sure, and knifed so many in the back. Gender doesn’t come into this one. It’s about retribution.
It was his challenge to the established elite that was his downfall. He played the usurper role and failed. But to compare it to a woman who “invites rape” is a little too much – not to say rancorous and erroneous. There is nothing sweet, genteel or even slightly wayward about Thaksin and the way he co-opts and covets power for his own gain. Look how he uses Yingluck for his own purposes and benefit.
You trivialise rape by comparing it to politics in Thailand. That’s so wrong and sickening. Rape is rape, but politics is the devil’s game. Those who enter politics should know it’s a dirty game, and if you break rules, it can well be your downfall.
