Reversing one coup doesn't serve justice

I agree with the Nittirat Group's leader, Thammasat law professor Worachet Pakeerut, when he seeks "To reduce, if not put an end to, any threat of future military coups that plague Thai society by undoing the laws passed by the coup makers, thus making po

The people, as holders of sovereign power, must be able to legally undo undemocratic legal actions made by the coup makers. What’s unjust should be able to be undone. What the coup makers did was not due process of law.” (“A call for accountability”, October 2)
But you know better than I, Prof Worachet, that the rule of law must be applied without discrimination. The 1912 coup, and all that followed, were as illegal as that of 2006, and you should be as eager to undo their injustices as much as those of the 2006 coup.
Thus, I suggest that the Nittirat Group call for reversing the legal legacies of all coups, going in chronological order. So doing would be consistent with the rule of law and would have the added bonus of silencing those who say you’re pro-Thaksin.
