Some history in regard to Palestine

Nick Ferriman notes (Letters, Oct 5) that when England signed the Balfour Declaration stating Palestine could become a Jewish state, 40 per cent of English MALE adults (not to mention how many women) could not even vote.

I should add that at that time black Americans and women (of all races) couldn’t vote in many states in America. So it’s not surprising that America, with it’s low regard for the rights of its own citizens, not to mention it’s history of oppression and genocide, which rivals that of the Nazis, couldn’t care less about the rights of the Palestinians either.
Keep in mind that up until 1920 only about 10 per cent of Palestinians were Jews and the Zionists (outsiders) had no moral right to ask for a country in that area of the world.
