Flying the coup to avoid the worst

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2011

I am so, so disappointed in myself upon hearing the news that former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has flown to the Maldives for a holiday, as I now realise that I have never offered a formal invitation to the man and his family to spend a holiday with

It might not be the Maldives but there is a lot of good food (mostly Isaan) on the soi, and there is a great coffee stall in an alley where he and I could have lengthy discussions sitting across from each other over a broken, plastic table.
On top of that, I have found fresh mackerel at Bt21 per kilogram – and just think of that roasted over a charcoal fire with some som tam and sticky rice on the side.
I fault myself for inadvertently depriving the former prime minister of this experience. Oh, will he ever forgive me?
