Yingluck not to blame for flood crisis

When bad things happen, it is Thai norm to blame someone else.

When a new government takes office and something goes bad, it always blames its predecessor for “leaving a pile of trash”. But PM Yingluck is different.
Planning irrigation strategy is a long-term process, taking at least a year ahead. Obviously, this flood has been a result of bad water planning from last year. It is worth noting that the current minister of agriculture, who is responsible for irrigation planning, also served in the same position in the previous government.
It is unfortunate that the bad effects erupted during PM Yingluck’s term. Her opponents have a field day attacking her and making fun of her boots, yet she takes the beating in her stride. Never blame her predecessor. She has more guts than any Thai prime minister.
