Art for His Majesty

Thirty leading Thai artists inspired by the benevolence of His Majesty the King are displaying their works at Siam Paragon's Hall of Mirror until December 11 to raise funds for charity.

The exhibition, which marks the King’s 84th birthday anniversary, features portraits of His Majesty as well as sculptures. Some of the works on display are also on sale, with proceeds going to the AnandaMahidol Foundation.
Altogether there are 84 artworks on display, depicting the King’s duties and reflecting his concerns for the country’s flooding problem.
Highlights include “Baramee Pok Klao” by Pramote Chantasane, an oil that explains the work the Monarch has done to better the lives of the Thai people, and “Racha Pisek Somrot” by Chusith Wijarnjorakij, a pastel in oil that has been displayed at the California Art Club in the United States.
National artist Preecha Taothong has given a print to the exhibition, while Assoc Prof Pitak Sa-nga, a lecturer at Silapakorn University has contributed a sculpture inspired by the King’s virtue.
Visitors also have the chance to buy commemorative banknotes valued Bt200, Bt300 and Bt500 at the event. Part of the proceeds will be presented to HM the King for his personal charitable projects.
