The Guitar Mag pays its dues

One of the very few music magazines to have survived the digital age, The Guitar Mag enters its eleventh year of publication with the celebratory event “The Guitar 1st Decade Anniversary Awards 2011”.

Published by Wongsawang Publishing and Printing, the magazine’s slogan is “Music Inspiration Magazine”, and it continues to inspire the young generation to love music.

During its lifetime, it has played a role in presenting and promoting many artists, among them Bodyslam, 25 Hours, Labanoon, Clash and Slot Machine.

Musical knowledge is imparted in every issue by such columnists as Wiroj “Pap” Sathapanawat, bassist with fusion jazz band Infinity, Jakrapong “Song” Siririn, bassist of rock band Paradox, keyboardist and music director Jakkawal “Neung” Saothongyutitham, songwriter Mansuang Surangkanaratana and Worawit “Pop” Rochanavipart, the shredder who won the Global Battle of the Bands in 2010.

The event will see the presentation of 12 honorary awards voted by the magazine’s editorial department and fans.

The prizes are for: Inspiring Guitarist, New Idol Guitarist, Lifetime Achievement, Best Songwriter, Best Man Behind the Scene, New Wave, Best Style, Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Band, Popular Vote and Single Hits of the Year.

Performers will be Mild, 25 Hours, Season 5, Apartment Khunpa, Sqweez Animal, and Tattoo Colour.

There’ll also be booths selling instruments and an auction of signed guitars and ukuleles.

Proceeds will go to flood relief.
