Will Palin be a better match for Romney?

Re: Romney: The hard-to-like winner, The Nation, World, January 12.

Every four years, the United States goes through the motions of democracy to elect challengers for the presidency or a challenger to the incumbent president. There is a lot of publicity for the events and at the end of the day the candidate that raises the most campaign money gets a shot at job. This works in Thailand in a less subtle way as well.
With the poor Republican nominations for the presidency/vice presidency in 2008, I thought they must be trying to lose it. With two unjustifiable/unwinnable wars and a debt tsunami on its way, why not lumber the Democrats with it?
John McCain was an interesting choice. He was apparently against the wars but if he came to office he would have to stick to the party line in the same way that Barack Obama was stuck with it. Sarah Palin was a liability because she proved she knew nothing about much of anything.
McCain has endorsed Mitt Romney. Perhaps he can get his old running mate to partner with Romney as well.
