It's the turn of the younger generation

This much I know about Lung Kip's thinking: that what Thaksin did justified the coup; that what the police did to the yellow-shirt demonstrators justified the coup because it amounted to a complete loss of law and order; that he does not think much about

These are value judgements on Lung Kip’s part and it is hard to argue with value judgements. Between the heart and the head, the heart always wins. So I will not waste Lung Kip’s time with arguments but instead I will appeal to his heart. This country belongs to the common man as much as the elite. The country is for them to lose as much as for anyone else. Whether you like it or not, harping on about the evils of Thaksin will not solve any problem; their hearts are set on Thaksin. Let them have a good go at it. If Thaksin or his surrogates are as bad as Lung Kip thinks, then do your coup if you think that that will solve the problem. But I don’t think we will need a coup; the people will simply kick the bum out.
Lung Kip sounds like a decent human being who has probably spent his life helping the common people. Lung Kip worries about Thailand and the scourges that Thaksin brought. But the common people have grown up, Lung Kip. It is now their time. Your generation has done a good job; we did not become socialist, we escaped the killing fields, we escaped the wrenching change of communism. The common people are thinking for themselves, thanks to the developments that Lung Kip brought on. And the world has moved on; it is time for the next generation to make their mark, to make their mistakes and to assume the mantle. We will take your warnings and admonitions to heart but in the end there is not much that you can do that hasn’t already been done. Corrupt politicians will continue to exist; police brutality will rear its ugly head and Lung Kip can always have the final word: “I told you so”.
