I have followed the spat between Lung Kip and veteran Thaksin cheerleader Somsak Pola with detached amusement. However, I almost choked on my breakfast when I read Somsak’s analogy of Thaksin being “like a guy whose house was robbed while he was away, and he tries to get his possessions back”.
At that point my eye was drawn to the title of the previous letter, “Beggars belief”, as that is exactly what this preposterous statement engenders. There certainly was systematic and bare-faced robbery going on, but Thaksin was not the victim but rather the very calculating perpetrator, and the hapless victim was the Kingdom of Thailand on so many levels, and not just that of plundered billions.
