Slurs backfire on Democrats

Re: "Gutter politics always prevail", Letters, February 28.

Prachyadavi Tavedikul says that since gutter politics is prevalent, it should be accepted as a fact of life. I hold a different view. Hitting below the belt should not be permitted even if  by one’s friend, otherwise our society can never be improved. Khun Prachyadavi’s revelation of the three Democrats is an example of why throwing dirt can go on unending. I don’t like dirt in any form.
Second, I am not that naive not to accept the rule of the majority. I only objected once to Pheu Thai’s proposal of an amnesty plan for one individual. On the contrary, on record I have defended Yingluck against her unfair critics when warranted.
Third, Yingluck’s silence on the Democrats’ first innuendo regarding the hotel visit was clever in allowing a rope long enough for the Democrats to hang themselves. How can one defend a negative [rumour] that is untrue? PM Yingluck has played this game masterfully. Don’t forget she got a master’s degree in public administration from Kentucky and is not as sweet and innocent as many believe.
