Amateurs tee up PowerPlay Golf tour

PowerPlay Golf, a new format that has spread through 30 countries and more than 600 golf clubs, has arrived in Thailand.
The PowerPlay Golf Thailand Tour 2012 features a dynamic nine-hole format, with some twists, run by Asian Golf Events.
Professionals who have teed off in PowerPlay Golf include Thongchai Jaidee, Graeme McDowell (2010 US Open Champion); Paula Creamer (2010 US Women’s Open Champion), and multiple Major-winners Gary Player, John Daly and Ian Woosnam.
“PowerPlay Golf is a relatively new discipline and one that is rapidly growing in popularity around the world. We are very proud to bring it to Thailand and we are launching the PowerPlay Golf Thailand Tour 2012 which includes a series of four regional events and a national final,” said David Pettigrew, director of Asian Golf Events.
The PowerPlay Golf Thailand Tour 2012 starts on June 17 at Laguna Phuket Golf Club in Phuket. The next stops are July 8 at Thana City Golf & Sports Club in Bangkok, July 21 at Khao Kheow Country Club in Pattaya, September 29 at Star Dome Golf Club in Chiang Mai and October 6 at Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin.
Entry is open to all amateurs with an official handicap certificate, and the top 10 from each tournament will go on to play in the Thailand Finals in Hua Hin on October 6. The winners of the Thailand Finals will then go to represent Thailand in the PowerPlay Golf World Finals.
