In calling for the deportation of foreigners who “own” land in the Kingdom through their Thai spouses, the auditor-general may have gone even further than Mr Mugabe in attempting to legitimise xenophobia and racism among the family of nations. Such comments are certainly not in keeping with the spirit of Asean and only serve to further alienate foreign investors in Thailand.
