In his letter on March 18, Kip said, “When legal cases are appealed in Thailand there must be new evidence to warrant a review”.
As a layman I would like to ask whether a person can appeal without new evidence simply because he or she thinks that the judge was wrong?
A judge is, after all, a human being capable of making mistakes. Shouldn’t a fair justice system allow for such an eventuality?
In the same letter Kip made a strong and lengthy argument about the professionalism of the judges and placed strong confidence in the Thai judicial process.
But why then does he keep referring to the asset concealment verdict in many of his letters and ask that we reflect deeply upon it?
Don’t get me wrong, I do have faith in the judicial process and think that Thaksin’s alleged crimes would have been brought to justice even without the coup.
The coup only served to put a question mark on the subsequent process.
