Would songs-for-life singer Ad Carabao have another guitar tantrum?
Instead on Monday night we had classy back-to-back apologies for what happened – and a lot of laughs.
Emcee Morakot “Doh” Komolbutr accepted some of the blame for the 2011 incident as he introduced Ad again. But Ad came onstage and claimed full responsibility.
“It was my fault because I’m hot-tempered,” he declared. “I’ve come tonight voluntarily to repay the debt. I told Tiwa [Sarajuta, the organiser] that I spoiled last year’s event and I wanted to come this year.”
Ad performed “Jai Mai Daan Por” and yielded the stage to Tik Shiro, who sang a song and then teased Ad a little. “I just met him backstage and he said, ‘Come here and I’ll give you a kiss.’ I hope the rainbow people don’t imagine it was anything more than that.”
Tik joked about Ad slamming his guitar down in a huff last year, and since those guys are quite close, it was pretty funny. Then he kidded the news photographers over their fondness for dancers onstage wearing micro-skirts.
“Last year they were all shooting at exactly the same angle!” he said, pivoting his hands way up.
Double trouble
Seksan “Sek Loso” Sukpimai’s return from the drug-and-booze abyss has the full support of Ad Carabao, who said at the Season Awards he’d love to team up with Sek and make an album. They once worked together and Ad said they’re like brothers.
“Nothing could change that,” Ad vowed, while commenting that “Sek isn’t quite a rocker – he started with songs-for-life but then found his own path. He has a very good sense of music and I adore him for that.”
They’ve casually discussed a joint project. “It’s not about business,” Ad insisted. “I have no label. There’s no point discussing money with people like Sek and me.”
