Why does Thailand not label all GMO foods?

The State of Vermont in the USA took the initiative against biotechnology corporations by launching new legislation on Feb 1 that would require the labelling of products containing any genetically modified ingredients.

In Thailand, GMO labelling is only required if more than 5 per cent of an ingredient is GMO, and, if an ingredient is only a minor part of the product, it is allowed to be 100 per cent GMO!
Recent studies in the US showed GMO plant-synthesised pesticides are showing up in the human bloodstream. It is high time that Thai Health Authorities start protecting the nation’s health instead of protecting the large biotech companies that produce Frankenstein foods. We must demand compulsory labelling on any GMO, so that those who eat to nourish their bodies can make an informed choice.
