This line should be posted in Parliament, in every MP’s office, on urinal walls and inside toilet stalls. Better still, the line should be tattooed on every MP’s forehead in reverse so they can read it when they look in a mirror. In addition, make it a rule that MPs chant the maxim three times before every parliamentary session begins. And if MPs misbehave during a parliamentary debate, they are made to stand up and recite a hundred times: “Accept defeat with grace, win with humility, and learn to forgive.”
The country is in bedlam because some politicians are habitual sore losers; they hold their grudges against the winning party and they keep rocking the boat. They should listen to Napoleon Hill (1883-1970), the author of Think and Grow Rich (1937): “When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal.”
