Stating the obvious

Former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva never fails to baffle me.

When he inspected the bomb site in Yala, he wore a T-shirt that declared “Yala people don’t want bombs.” My analytical mind wonders who the message was meant for.
Was it for the bombers, telling them to plant bombs somewhere else, not in Yala? Or did he speak on behalf of Yala residents?
If so, wasn’t that a not-so-smart thing to say? After all, who would want bombs in their home?
One thing for sure, those who are responsible for the bombs are going to say, “Abhisit is cool. He didn’t even condemn us.”
Fourteen people died and hundreds were injured, and if Abhisit wanted to send a message, it should have been a harsh one, like “Death to bombers!”
