Let Thaksin stew in his own juices, and let’s hope the PT Party will focus on the job it was elected to do, namely assist the Thai people. Currently, it is not doing that. Instead, all the effort is devoted to enabling PM Yingluck’s brother to return.
Reconciliation is not needed. Neither the yellow shirts nor the red shirts are protesting. The red shirts are content with the Pheu Thai Party in the seat of power.
The English language has a couple of idioms that fit: One is, “Leave well enough alone.” The other is, “Let sleeping dogs lie.” Problem is, Thaksin is not sleeping. He’s angry, and continually tries to draw attention to himself. If you have a family with several children, are you going to continually deal with the one child who’s loudest and most angry? At some point you might resort to ignoring that child, so as to not allow it to continually disrupt the family. Similarly, if Thaksin is ignored, particularly by newspapers, then Thailand could dust itself off and get on with the business of improving things.
