Thailand's annual beach volleyball world tour leg is moving this year to Bang Saen beach in Leamtaen, Chon Buri, 85 kilometres south of Bangkok, from October 23 to 28.

The tournament has been renamed the Bang Saen Thailand Open.
Previously staged on Phuket’s Karon beach, the event is the last stop on the 2012 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour.
The move, which has been approved by the Beach Volleyball World Tour Council, is designed to give more fans in Bangkok and Chon Buri the chance to see the world’s best women teams in action.
Response to the change of venue from teams has been very positive with over 40 from 17 countries already entered, including the current world champions from Brazil. More than 70 teams from 30 countries are expected to eventually sign up, Geoffrey Rowe, managing director of Pentangle Promotions, said.
“ The tournament is recognised as the leading women’s beach volleyball event in Asia and traditionally draws large crowds of spectators throughout. As well as being televised locally, the final two days of the tournament are broadcast live worldwide to an international audience of over 70 million households, which gives tremendous exposure to the host venue,” he said.
The Bang Saen Thailand Open, powered by PTT, will feature six days of competition plus activities designed to support the local community and increase the popularity of beach volleyball among the Thai public.
