Tammy sole Thai at the French Open

Noppawan Lertcheewakarn's bid for a French Open berth collapsed early in Paris after she was outclassed by Switzerland's Stefanie Voegele 6-0 6-4 in Wednesday's opening round of the women's qualifying.

Noppawan became the second Thai victim on Roland Garros clay after Danai Ucomchoke, playing Paris for the first time in five years, was soundly beaten 6-1 6-0 by Argentine Martin Alund in men’s qualifying on Tuesday.
That means Tamarine Tanasugarn, who goes into the main draw for the women’s singles today, will be the only Thai in the year’s second Grand Slam.
