Sudket, Saralee shuttle into semis

Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam caused the biggest upset so far at the Indonesia Open after they beat world No 1 mixed doubles duo Nan Zhang and Yunlei Zhao of China 18-21 21-18 21-17 in the quarter-finals in Jakarta yesterday.
The Thai duo, beaten finalists in the Thailand Open last Sunday, remain on track for back-to-back finals. Their hot form saw them upset eighth seeds Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh of Malaysia 21-15 21-17 in the second round on Thursday night. They will meet South Korea’s Sung Hyun-ko and Hye Won-eom in today’s semi-finals.
In the men’s doubles, Patipat Chalardchaleam and Nipitpong Puangpuapech beat Indonesia’s Ronald Alexander and Selvanus Geh 15-21 23-21 21-19 in the second round. They were to take on Malaysian Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong at press time.
In the women’s singles second round Thai No 2 Porntip Buranaprasert lost to fourth-seeded Xuerui Li of China 21-23 21-14 16-21.
